You can cook for yourself in the kitchenette, which includes a coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave and hot plate. Dishes and utensils are provided.

Relax and entertain in your large living room. The comfortable furnishings include a computer desk (we have wireless Internet)...

You can hike or browse at art galleries all day and socialize downtown in the evening. Bring your art and writing to work on. Asheville is full of inspiration. You're also welcome to join us for our Women's Poetry Group on the first Sunday of the month.

Asheville Tourists - that's the name of our minor league baseball team! Season now thru Sept at McCormick Field in Asheville, on the edge of downtown.

The Montford Park Players. Now thru Sept 28. North Carolina's oldest Shakespeare troupe performs under the stars all summer at one of Asheville's parks. All performances are FREE! schedule

Sculpture for the Garden. Now thru Dec 31. Beside the Grove Park Inn, in Asheville, Grovewood Gallery's first outdoor sculpture exhibition. The exhibit features the work of 15 nationally recognized artists.

Shindig on the Green. Aug 16, Aug 23, Aug 30. Free mountain music and dance shows near downtown Asheville.

Southern Energy & Environment Expo. Aug 22 - 24 at the WNC Agricultural Center across from the Asheville Airport. This is the 8th annual SEE Expo. Come see and learn more about sustainable living for a strong future.

Goombay Festival. Aug 22-24. Annual African-Caribbean street festival in downtown Asheville.

North Carolina Apple Festival. Aug 29-Sept 1. Hendersonville.

Biltmore Estate Carpet of Flowers. Aug 29-Sept 14. A one-of-a-kind flower tapestry of 144,000 plants!

North Carolina Mountain State Fair. Sept 5-14.Near the Asheville airport.

Biltmore Harvest Celebration. Sept 5 thru Oct 26. The Biltmore House celebrates its Appalachian Heritage with music, dancing, art, storytelling and more.

Organic Fest. Sept 6. In downtown Asheville, a celebration of everything organic.

Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival (LAAFF). Sept 7. One of downtown Asheville's funkiest annual events that celebrates local arts - visual, performing, musical, healing.

Downtown After Five. Sept 19th, 5 to 9 pm. This free 20th annual downtown concert series is located on Lexington Avenue, near Hiawassee and Woodfin Streets. There's beer from five local breweries. This night's entertainment will be provided by Blue Mountains with Lara Reed & Deep Pocket.

Field to Table Festival at Biltmore Estate. Sept 19 thru 28. Included will be tours of the estate, culinary demonstrations, wine tasting, seminars and live entertainment.

Annual Heritage Weekend. Sept 20 and 21. Southern Highland Craft Guilds celebration of traditional Appalachian crafts, music and storytelling.

Brewgrass Festival. Sept 20. Western North Carolina's biggest festival focused on beer and bluegrass. At an Asheville park, more than forty local and national breweries participate.

True Nature Country Fair. Sept 26 thru 28. In Mills River, just south of Asheville. A celebration of organic and sustainable products and resources from around the Southeast. Sponsored by the OrganicGrowers School of Asheville.

Asheville Greek Festival. Sept 26 thru 28. Annual festival with traditional Greek food, music, dance and games. At Martin Luther King Park near downtown.

Body, Mind, Spirit Expo. Sept 27, 28 at the Asheville Civic Center - Sat 10-6, Sun 11-5. $8 for the weekend! Discounts online. Healthy food samples, free demos, seminars, venders, lots of interesting stuff.

Blue Ridge Roller Girls. Sep 27, and Nov 1 at the Asheville Civic Center, downtown.You've never seen anything like it! You have to see it - check out myspace, as well as their website. It's a fast and furious competition of women on roller skates. Sep 27: local intra-league battle. Nov 11: Southeast invitational.

RiverSculpture at Reynolds Mountain. Oct 1 thru Jan 1. Annual contemporary outdoor sculpture exhibition, which used to be held at an Asheville park, now will be held at Reynolds Mountain in Woodfin, just north of Asheville. Always features funky and whimsical creations.

Women's Expo. Oct 2. 5 - 8pm at the Haywood Park Hotel Ballroom in downtown Asheville. The third annual Women's Expo sponsored by WOXL radio. Demonstrations, wine tasting, live music, hors d'oeuvres, fun and free!

Asheville Art Walks. Oct 3. Seasonal tours of the many downtown galleries. Very popular with locals and visitors. 5 - 8pm.

East of Asheville Studio Tour. Oct 4, 5. Semi-annual tour of artists' studios in Asheville, Swannanoa and Black Mountain.

Asheville Pridefest. Oct 11. Annual gay pride festival with performers, vendors, and speakers.

Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands. Oct 16-19. 61st annual craft event, among the biggest in the Southeast. Over 200 exhibitors, live music and demonstrations.

Blue Ridge Roller Girls. Nov 1 at the Asheville Civic Center, downtown.Check out myspace, as well as their website. It's fun and festive and fast with skaters whizzing around the track on roller skates. Nov 11: Southeast invitational.

Weaverville Art Safari. Nov 1 and 2. Semi-annual tour of artists' studios in the Weaverville area, just north of Asheville.

Asheville Film Festival. Nov 6 thru 9. Annual film festival featuring film of all genres. Fast becoming one of the most progressive film festivals.

Asheville Green Drinks Every Friday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, people gather at BoBo Gallery, 22 Lexington St., downtown Asheville. This is part of an international green drinks networking activity to regularly bring together a variety of people with an interest in environmental issues. Organic wines and beers will be available. There is usually a presentation if you are interested - or you can sit at the bar and network.

Mainstage Series at Diana Wortham Theatre at Asheville's Pack Place downtown. A great variety of music, dance, comedy and other entertainment through spring 2008.

Asheville Pizza & Brewing Company: always $2 movies, live music and other fun stuff.

Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe - readings, book signings, critique groups, poetry events, and live music in downtown Asheville.

We're just the place for your home base when you visit the Asheville area.

Located a mile from the Blue Ridge Parkway, just 10 minutes to downtown Asheville and the Biltmore Estate and winery, we're also a mile from I-40 and I-240.

Downtown Asheville is a place you won't want to miss! Start at the Chamber of Commerce, where you can get brochures and information about the area.

Before you come, check out Sheville.org. This special site for women will help you plan your trip.

The nearest hiking trail along the Blue Ridge Parkway is fewer than two miles from Lovers' Loop Retreat.

Another couple of miles down the parkway will put you at the beautiful Folk Art Center, which is operated by the Southern Highland Craft Guild.

Excellent dining options are so numerous, you may never want to take advantage of our cooking and dining area!
